New Mandalorians

The Last Jedi

The New Mandalorians were the governing political force on Mandalore whose authority was overwhelmed by wartime conflict. Their government’s fall left the planet in a volatile transition: hostilities eventually subsided, but the resulting power vacuum invited renewed competition from criminal and political forces.

Political Position on Mandalore

The New Mandalorians governed Mandalore under Satine’s government. The account presents them not as a faction operating at the margins, but as the political order confronting a crisis it could not contain: the wartime activities of the Shadow Collective proved too much for them to handle. The government’s inability to withstand that pressure marks the limits of its authority during the conflict.

Conflict and Governmental Fall

The struggle involved more than the New Mandalorians and the Shadow Collective. After Satine’s government fell, the violently dissenting Death Watch arose amid the turmoil, creating a major new problem for the Shadow Collective’s members, principally Black Sun and Hutt organizations. The account thus places the New Mandalorians’ collapse within a shifting contest in which opposition to one force did not restore the former government or produce a settled political order.

Aftermath and Significance

Once the initial burst of hostilities had passed, a puppet Prime Minister was installed and conditions quieted. That surface calm did not resolve Mandalore’s instability: the dissolution of the Shadow Collective left a power vacuum into which Black Sun, represented by Prince Xizor, expanded its influence. The New Mandalorians’ fall is therefore significant both as a defeat of the existing government and as the opening of a prolonged struggle over who would fill the space it left behind.
